What is SEO
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is used to optimize websites for search engines so that the website get high ranking.
How the search engine works
Search engines have several activities to provide results matching to the search term. Some of their activities are as following
- Crawling: Crawling means getting all the linked pages from a specific page using softwares called Crawlers or Spiders. e.g Googlebot
- Indexing Indexing is the process of creating index of the fetched webpages and storing them in a large database. Main purpose of indexing is to identify the word or expressions that best describes the page and assigning the page to specific keywords.
- Processing: It means searching the page from the database related to search term
- Relevancy Calculation: Since there are words used more than once in a webpage. The search engine calculate the relevancy of each page in its index to the search term.
- Results Retrieval : This is the last step in the activities of search engines to retrieve the matched results. This is not more than simply displaying data in browser.
